This is our third Holiday Music issue, and we hope you enjoy the music! All of the pieces have notation and can be played on hammered dulcimer.

  1. "Il Est Né le Divin Enfant" French Christmas carol arranged for mountain dulcimer by Lois Hornbostel. Contains sound file from the new CD "Masters of the Mountain Dulcimer Play Music for Christmas."
  2. "Winter's Run" an original piece arranged for hammered dulcimer by Jody Marshall. Contains sound file that blends Jody's composition with Prokofiev's "Troika."
  3. "The Cherry Tree Carol" from the Mel Bay collection Folk Songs of Old Kentucky collected and arranged for mountain and hammered dulcimers by Ralph Lee Smith and Madeline MacNeil.
  4. "Breakin' up Christmas," an old-time fiddle tune commemorating Christmas traditions in the Round Peak area of North Carolina. Contains sound file.
