"We Gather Together"

arranged for Hammered Dulcimer

by Madeline MacNeil

Set to an old Dutch folk melody, this song of praise was originally written in 1597 to celebrate a Dutch victory and appeared in 17th-Century Dutch songbooks. It was brought to the New World by Dutch settlers and became associated with the Thanksgiving holiday.

The squiggly line in the notation indicates an arpegggio; three or more notes are played quickly (and sweetly) one at a time, beginning with the bottom note.
